The best in modern public services understand that we must look outside and beyond legacy concepts and approaches, and develop ways of adapting the best of what’s out there to our own circumstances. And if we’re to
respond thoughtfully and effectively to challenges we can’t yet define, bold suggestions and open, curious minds won’t be a luxury: they’ll be absolutely business-critical.
We’re looking for an inspirational person who can grasp the full range of emerging issues, lead a high-performing team to think effectively and rigorously about what they might mean for us, and then communicate the possibilities with clarity and passion. We’ve a particular interest in understanding how the council can optimise its role as part of a diverse and complementary ecology of public service provision; and since the current Camden Plan runs until the end of 2017, its successor (Camden 2025) will be launched early in 2018, and you’ll play a major part in planning how to turn our new objectives into reality.
We’re uncompromising about your deep commitment to public service, but agnostic as to how you’ve come by it. Candidates may have backgrounds as diverse as strategy consultancy, senior civil service, third sector, or health and care. Whatever your recent experience, we’re most interested in where you’re proposing to take us next. Intellectually strong, with a rich frame of reference, and passionately motivated to tackle inequality and injustice, your appreciative and exacting style will quickly earn you a place in the most interesting conversations we’re having.
