Financial Director - Kinship
Job description
Kinship carers are amazing people. They are the grandparents and siblings, the aunts, uncles, and family friends who step up to raise children when their parents can't. Increasingly recognised as a positive alternative to the care system, kinship care keeps children in the family, leads to better outcomes and economic benefits. Yet it's poorly supported, and kinship carers often feel marginalised and overlooked. Kinship think that should change.
Kinship is the leading kinship care charity in England and Wales, and they won't rest until every kinship family has the recognition and support that they need and deserve. They're growing rapidly, and are investing in the structures, capacity and talent they'll need to achieve their goals. The more streamlined and professional their ‘back office’, the more effective they can be on the front line.
We are seeking a Financial Director to join Kinship's team for a 6-month fixed term contract with the option to extend if both parties agree. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and managing the Senior Finance Officer and Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for all day-to-day finance processes including invoicing and payroll. You will lead on budgeting and forecasting to determine financial resources, business plan priorities and appropriate reserves whilst ensuring the production of accurate and timely management accounts.
Working proactively with the Finance Committee, you will manage external relationships with auditors, banks and investment managers. Your commercial acumen will support the growth and delivery of a fully costed portfolio of programmes and services. You will develop robust financial reporting models to support organisational decision making and ensure all statutory requirements are complied with.
The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Accountant (ACCA/CIMA) with senior level post-qualifying financial management experience in a charity setting. You should have excellent knowledge of Charities SORP (FRS 102) and experience in appraising financial systems, processes and controls. Experience in using financial modelling to support business development and income generation is essential, as is leading effective strategic planning.
Kinship know that an organisation like theirs relies on having a healthy, respectful and optimistic culture, and you'll exemplify that in your leadership style. Candidates will be values-driven, commercially minded, strategic and forward-thinking with excellent people skills and the ability to manage a fast-paced and changing environment.
