Head of Learning & Collective Impact - Mission 44

Posted 25 March 2024
Salary £60,000 - £70,000

Job description

Mission 44 was established by Sir Lewis Hamilton in 2021. Sir Lewis’s vision was for a charitable foundation focused on building a fairer future for young people from underserved communities. Its purpose is to have a sustainable and positive impact on young people facing social injustice through grant-making, research and advocacy.

The legacy of the COVID lockdowns, the disruption to educational pathways and the impact of economic volatility have all played a part in worsening inequity in society. The opportunities for education, employment and empowerment for some young people have been further restricted. The team at Mission 44 is determined to work with and for young people to support them to make a step-change in their lives.

To be profoundly effective, Mission 44 is diverse, dynamic, collaborative and impact-led. It has grown rapidly – building the team, forming strategic partnerships, increasing income and expanding its reach. Over the next two years, Mission 44 aims to build on this platform, and evolve into an international organisation that can help address the common challenges faced by young people from underserved communities around the world.

As Head of Learning and Collective Impact you will play a key strategic role in expanding our reach, leveraging the power of convening, communities of practice and collective impact to unleash multiplying effects across the education and employment sectors (particularly STEM and motorsports) globally. Underpinning your strategic vision will be a strong track record in Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL)design and delivery to produce robust evidence, demonstrate impact and successfully influence policy and practice.

Your role will ensure that everything Mission 44 does is informed, not only by the latest research, but most importantly by the views and experiences of young people. You will ideally bring experience engaging young people and people with lived experience of social injustice in order to inform key strategic decisions. This opportunity requires someone with strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills who can create a compelling vision for others.

Mission 44 is a growing, ambitious, and disruptive organisation that is committed to being brave, collaborative, curious, inclusive and to acting with integrity. We value and respect every individual’s unique contribution. We positively encourage applications from all sections of society and are particularly interested in attracting applications from candidates from diverse and underrepresented groups.

If you are a leader in collective impact and MERL and like to disrupt the status quo, this role and Mission 44 would be the right fit for you. In return we can offer a supportive and collegiate working culture and exciting plans for growth and development that includes global expansion into the US and Brazil.
