Job description
1 in 4 people live with mental health problems yet most of us don’t get the help we need.
Since its creation in 1946, Mind has been hard at work to ensure everyone experiencing a mental health problem in England and Wales has access to the support and respect they deserve. Through public campaigns, influencing decision makers and the services that local Minds deliver in communities across England and Wales, they have touched millions of lives. They're here to fight for mental health. For support, for respect, for you.
Mind’s strategy focuses on changing minds across England and Wales by making mental health an everyday priority, supporting minds by offering help wherever it is needed through information, advice and local services, and connecting minds bringing together an unstoppable network of individuals and communities.
To be profoundly impactful, Mind has recently formed a new Social Impact Directorate, which will lead in optimising strategic alignment and cross-fertilisation across Mind’s federation of national Mind, the local Mind network of around 100 organisations, and Mind Retail comprising approximately 170 shops.
We are now seeking applicants from leaders with a strong strategic vision for social impact and a strong track record of its implementation across complex organisational structures.
As the Associate Director of Social Impact, you will play an exciting role in leading the development and delivery of a federation-wide Social Impact Strategy, as well as overseeing the co-creation of a Collective Impact framework. You will play a lead role in supporting how they raise and deploy Mind resources strategically, regionally and by nation in accordance with local health needs, demographics, and priorities. This will be informed through early engagement with local Mind leaders and aligned with the organisation's equity priorities. You will oversee an intersectional Mental Health Equity team to improve experiences, outcomes, and access to support for those who are marginalised and most disadvantaged in society.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrable senior level experience of social impact strategy development and implementation. You will also have proven senior level experience in health or mental health settings, ideally within a complex organisational structure, alongside an understanding of the voluntary sector within England and Wales. Key to success will be a proven track record of complex stakeholder and relationship management skills together with a commitment to collaboration and co-production with partners. The strongest candidates will also bring an understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion and experience embedding these principles within their work.
If you bring entrepreneurial flair to your leadership of social impact and are fuelled with an inextinguishable commitment to innovate, collaborate and create new ways to ensure that nobody’s mental health is sidelined, this role and Mind could be the right fit for you. In return, Mind can offer a supportive environment in which to really make your mark, alongside a generous range of employee benefits.
