Job description
Olmec is an award-winning, Black and Minoritised Communities-led Race Equality organisation. They deliver innovative training programmes for individuals, housing associations, local authorities, social enterprises, and the private sector. They champion Race Equality through economic and social justice; support people into employment, social enterprises, and onto boards; and they act as a catalyst for social change.
Olmec are currently embarking on an exciting new chapter and are seeking a Chief Executive who will build on their legacy and continue to drive the organisation forward with vision and creativity, while ensuring long-term sustainability.
The Chief Executive’s primary focus will be on amplifying our voice as an advocate for racial equality, forging new strategic partnerships, and further enhancing our position and influence across multiple sectors. Developing and leading this new strategy will be central to the role, taking the organisation on a positive journey, establishing a credible presence with a broader audience, and inspiring and confidently leading the existing team.
This is a significant leadership appointment. We are keen to hear from experienced senior leaders with extensive backgrounds in small organisations, including membership bodies, fundraising charities, and the education sector. You should have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the Race Equality landscape for individuals and organisations, as well as experience in delivering high-quality member services and products.
As a visible and innovative leader, you will be able to inspire and influence at all levels, with the vision, energy, and presence to represent the full breadth of Olmec's work in the public arena. You will bring sound judgement, alliance-building capability, and a proven track record of enhancing organisational credibility across diverse audiences. With commercial acumen, you will adopt a flexible and entrepreneurial approach to identify and explore new opportunities for Olmec, prioritising the diversification of income. Lastly, you will bring the strategic leadership skills to advance the organisation to the next level, motivating their talented and committed team.
