CEO - POhWER - CLOSED

Posted 21 February 2024
Salary £110,000

Job description

POhWER was established 27 years ago by a group of inspiring individuals who were fighting social injustice and challenges in their own lives. This ethos remains at the heart of everything that POhWER does, but is not confined by it in its ambition for the future. It provides advocacy, information and advice to people who, because of disability, illness, social exclusion and other challenges, find it difficult to express their views or get the support they need.

POhWER is a charity and an independent organisation separate from the government, local councils, the NHS and other organisations that provide health and social care. POhWER’s mission remains significantly impactful and relevant at a time when human rights and entitlements have been tested, challenged and threatened. POhWER continues to empower people by ensuring that their voices are heard – helping to make a real difference to their beneficiaries’ lives by speaking for them when they can’t, and supporting them to speak for themselves when they can.

POhWER is seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer who can build on its Strategy for 2020-2025, and take the organisation to the next stage of its development. You will work with a refreshed and strong Board of Trustees, supported by a highly established Chair, together with an Executive team and dedicated staff and volunteers who consistently deliver positive outcomes for our beneficiaries. The charity is financially robust and poised for development.

The new Chief Executive Officer will bring an inspirational leadership approach with the visibility, drive and ambition to be able to make POhWER a truly national player. The charity requires a leader with the ambition and strategic ability to take it forward purposefully. It requires someone with a collaborative, authentic and strategic leadership approach for the next phase of its development.

You will demonstrate high calibre influencing and communication skills, financial acumen, and income development understanding. You will have an inclusive management style, and experience of inspiring and sustaining a cohesive workforce.

We are keen to find a Chief Executive Officer with a clear alignment to human rights issues who also brings a genuine empathy and energy to the charity’s values and a deep commitment to the work of POhWER. You will be actively promoting the charity’s social purpose and its values by advancing a positive, diverse and collegiate culture.

If you would like to take POhWER forward on this exciting journey, we would love to hear from you.
