WEST Youth Zone opened its doors in April 2024, but the journey to get there was much longer – built on years of planning, community effort and shared belief in what high-quality youth work can offer.

Named by local young people (Where Everyone Sticks Together), WEST is a purpose-built, seven-day-a-week space staffed by skilled and dedicated youth workers. There, over 3,000 young people have already found somewhere to belong, build skills and be themselves. Their vision is a West London where all young people have access to the kind of opportunities and encouragement that help them thrive.

But the need for what WEST do is growing. Hammersmith & Fulham is a borough of extremes – with some of the highest child poverty rates in London sitting just streets away from extraordinary wealth. WEST believe every young person deserves the same chance to feel safe, supported and excited about their future. That’s what WEST exists to provide.

They are now looking for a new Chair to help shape the next phase of their story. Someone who brings experience of strategic leadership, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to their values. You’ll be joining a high-performing board and supporting a respected and dynamic CEO. Together, you’ll help embed WEST as a lasting part of the local landscape – not a ‘nice to have’, but a trusted and essential presence.

We’re looking for someone who can build strong relationships, make space for different perspectives, and hold WEST to high standards. Someone comfortable supporting income generation and board development, and who knows how to keep momentum going.
