Job description

Toynbee Hall has been at the forefront of social change in London’s East End for over 140 years, tackling the deep-rooted issues of poverty and inequality. As they move forward, they are seeking a strategic, commercially-minded Chief Operating Officer to help guide them through their next chapter.

In this newly created role, you will work closely with the CEO and Board, playing a critical part in shaping Toynbee's financial strategy and operational delivery. At a time when rising costs and increasing demand challenge charities everywhere, we need someone who can not only maintain but enhance our financial sustainability, maximising commercial income opportunities and ensuring our corporate services are delivered with excellence.

Toynbee Hall are a small but impactful organisation, and as COO, you will ensure that their financial management, commercial operations, and governance frameworks all work in harmony to deliver their ambitious goals. From overseeing income from their venue hire business to leading on risk management, your role will be pivotal in securing Toynbee Hall’s future.

To succeed, you will bring senior-level experience in financial management, ideally within the charity sector, as well as a proven track record in commercial income generation. You’ll be as comfortable working strategically as you are getting involved in day-to-day operations, and your leadership style will inspire and empower others across the organisation.

This is a unique opportunity to join a historic charity with a bold vision for the future. If you share a commitment to tackling inequality and empowering communities, we would love to hear from you.
