Job description

Contact is changing. Their purpose is clear. Contact exists to end the battle that families face for the support they need, so their families can lead joyful and fulfilling lives. Across the UK, families of disabled children are navigating an increasingly challenging landscape. Services are stretched, systems are complex, and too many families are reaching crisis before help arrives.

Contact knows families need them more than ever. And as the pressures on education, health and social care deepen, they are stepping up. Their new strategy is bold and forward looking, focused on reaching more families, strengthening our national voice, and building a sustainable organisation that can meet rising need for the long term.

To deliver this, they are making important decisions about how they work, who they reach and where they invest. They are sharpening their focus on long term sustainability, diversifying income, and embedding a culture where positive challenge and ambitious thinking sit alongside the warmth and partnership Contact are known for. Put simply, they are preparing Contact for the future, so that no family faces challenges alone.

These new Trustee roles are a statement of that ambition. Contact is bringing fresh energy and expertise onto the Board so that they can grow their reach, deepen their impact and strengthen their financial resilience. Each appointment will play a central role in shaping a stronger, more sustainable Contact.

We are seeking four Trustees who can help them deliver this change. You may be an experienced fundraiser who understands how to balance income portfolios and spot emerging opportunities. You may be a qualified accountant with insight into financial planning, audit or investments. You may bring legal and HR expertise that can strengthen Contact’s culture of inclusion, accountability and support. Or you may be someone rooted in Northern Ireland, with local insight and networks that can help Contact expand their work across all four nations.

Whatever your background, you will share a determination and belief in the power of families. You will be someone with vision, curiosity and courage to ask thoughtful questions. You do not need previous board experience. Contact welcomes people who are new to trusteeship and will support you to thrive.

This is a pivotal moment for Contact, and an exceptional opportunity to help shape the future of a charity that hundreds of thousands of families rely on every year.
