Job description

Living with financial insecurity is stressful, exhausting and tough. For the 14 million people in the UK living in poverty, the effects are wide-ranging – from housing instability and poor health to stigma, isolation and the constant pressure of trying to make ends meet.

Turn2us is a national charity tackling the structural causes of poverty. Through direct support, advocacy and place-based programmes, they help people in crisis to regain financial security, build resilience and thrive. Their work is rooted in the expertise of those with experience of  financial insecurity and Turn2us are committed to shifting power and driving systems-level change. They also own and operate eight care homes on a profit-for-purpose model, through their subsidiary Elizabeth Finn Homes.

Turn2us are now looking to appoint three, new trustees to help guide their next chapter. They are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: property and care homes (to also serve on the Elizabeth Finn Homes board); programme design, systems change and influencing (including chairing the Edinburgh Trust subcommittee); and fundraising, brand and communications. These are strategic roles at the heart of a complex and ambitious organisation.

They are especially keen to hear from candidates with real experience of living with financial insecurity, and from those who bring perspectives currently under-represented on their boards. They welcome first-time trustees and will offer support to help you develop and succeed. For the Edinburgh Trust role, strong local knowledge and networks will be essential.

If you believe everyone should have enough to live on – and you’re ready to help Turn2us deliver real and lasting change – we’d love to hear from you.
